Even though it’s summer and there is a lot of beauty in front of me I can’t stop thinking about all the darkness that seems to be seeping into everything. The precious Amazon that is on fire...icebergs melting... leaders of too many countries that have no compassion for people in crisis, not even mothers with children.
And all of this affects all of the beloved innocent animals on the planet. In the Amazon, in the Arctic ...in our oceans. It’s hard not to have a heavy heart. It’s difficult to not be overwhelmed.
I keep thinking that we have to go through this in order to get to the other side. For all of us to wake up. I am reminding myself and everyone else that cares to not feel defeated. We have power. If you have the privilege to vote, use it. If you can contribute your time or money to organizations that do good things ...do it. And on top of it all ...if nothing else, just be kind ...to a stranger, to a tourist , to a neighbor. Stop and help an animal that is suffering or in crisis. Your intentions will inspire others. We do have power. “The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because those of us who do nothing.”-Albert Einstein “Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and then suddenly you are doing the impossible.”-St. Francis of Assisi “One must not let oneself be overwhelmed by sadness.”-Jackie Kennedy 📸 @lufreitas Photographing little Sami for @humanesocietyny @serzinhodeluz Sami who lost her back legs when hit by a car in Brazil is being rehabilitated at the @humanesocietyny and in September will soon be fit for wheels and then will be ready for adoption.
